An innovative feeding concept, lower diesel consumption and significantly improved mixing quality – for Schädlerhof in the Allgäu region of Germany, choosing a Trioliet Solomix 2 Hybrid feed mixer was the logical next step.
Since December 2024, the organic dairy farm has been operating with an electrically assisted Trioliet feed mixer and benefits daily from lower operating costs, reduced wear and tear, and optimal feed quality.
Schädlerhof in Oberstaufen keeps 84 dairy cows, manages 70 hectares of grassland and operates a 265 kWp photovoltaic installation combined with a 100 kWh battery storage system. The family farm aims to utilise as much of its self-generated electricity as possible for feeding the herd.
Due to the specific requirements of the farm, a self-propelled feed mixer was not considered the right solution. Together with Trioliet, a customised hybrid solution was therefore developed that can be powered either by the tractor PTO or entirely electrically.

Maximum use of self-generated energy
Thanks to the large solar installation and the battery storage system, the feed mixer can operate largely on self-generated electricity. This significantly reduces electricity consumption from the grid and increases the farm's energy independence.
Significantly lower diesel consumption
The electric drive takes over a large part of the mixing process, replacing a substantial portion of the diesel normally required during mixing operations. This results in a clear reduction in daily operating costs.
Reduced wear on the tractor
Thanks to the double-sided overrunning clutch, the electric motor absorbs a large part of the load, significantly reducing the strain on the tractor's PTO clutch. This lowers maintenance and repair costs.
Improved mixing quality
Because the larger mixing tub is not filled to its maximum capacity and can therefore be utilised more effectively for a longer period of time, mixing performance improves noticeably. According to Sebastian Schädler, this is immediately visible in the barn through more uniform feed distribution and improved feed quality.
Economically attractive despite the higher investment
Although electric drive technology requires a higher initial investment, the machine pays for itself through reduced wear, significantly lower diesel costs and the use of self-generated solar power.
